Right now they're calling for somewhere in excess of 8 inches starting tomorrow, on top of what we have.

Ok, here's a satellite shot I just found. Not quite as cool as all of England in white, but check out the snow line:

More Snow, round II !!! We are getting anywhere from 9-15" here. I just got back in after snowblowing the first 9", with a snowblower party scheduled for 7PM tonight with my neighbors.

Yes, we've been reduced to snowblower parties for entertainment ...

We're in full-on blizzard mode. Right now, most local jurisdictions have ordered their plows off the road because it's so bad, and we have at least two NWS bulletins that are telling people to keep off the roads as this is "life threatening." It's blowing mostly sideways at still 1"+ an hour, and I can't really see out the front half of my house because the windows are frosted.

My county is dumb as hell, and didn't close for today until about 12:30am last night even though everyone else around has, so I think they'll drive us into liberal leave again tomorrow and Friday, but I went to work for half the day yesterday and the roads were utterly insane. Less than 1 travel lane on a state highway, with 2 inches of compacted snow/ice on the rest--that means you should be closed. The way things are now, they should close everything for the rest of the week. It's going to be hard enough getting to one of the top restaurants in DC with the wife on Friday for our Valentine's dinner.

                -Rand

P.S. I'll try to get more pictures, but my kitchen window is frozen shut at the moment, and inches of snow drift into my house if I open my front door.

All the flight to your neck of the woods are canceled. I'm glad I don't have to travel through there this week. It sounds like a great time to get some game time in.

The roof of a large building in Suitland, Maryland which holds artifacts in the Smithsonian's collection collapsed today. No word on any damages to the stuff inside; employees are being ordered not to go there.

I tried walking on my back porch and fell over. Remember the angel food cake table ?? It's completely covered now ... more than 36" ('I'm guessing 42", as its up past my jacket pockets) of snow due to drifting.

Down here in Dallas it snowed about 2 inches overnight (getting us out of school!) and has been snowing all day since.

I had enough snow to make a snowman about my size.

It looks like you used all of the snow that was available.

You all can have some of mine. The pile next to the tree in my front yard is just about 7 feet tall right now, and my drifts/snowpack prior to shoveling today is about 4 feet deep elsewhere.
