    More Snow

Apparently I'm in the snow wheelhouse of the country this year (non-mountain or lake effect division).

In December we had a storm of 16.4 inches, 7th most recorded at Reagan National in DC ever. Last Saturday we hit about 7 inches, and last night about 4-5. We're now smack in the middle of the heavy prediction for the one coming Friday during the day.

Here's our percentage chances from one source, and confidence for high totals is increasing: 40% chance of 10-16 inches, and 40% chance of 16+. So pretty much 10 inches to two feet at an 80% chance.

So essentially two storms of the once per decade variety within six weeks of one another, and another 12 in between, and 6 more weeks of winter according to Phil.

The worst part by far? They're all happening on the weekends! I can't get out of work if it doesn't start snowing until late Friday or early Saturday.

    -Rand

P.S. There's apparently another system moving in Monday or Tuesday, but given how that's during work time, it'll probably be 2 inches or less.

Same here, Rand. We got 11 inches last Friday/Saturday. Kids have been out of school all week so far... two hour delay tomorrow. They are calling for another six inches starting tomorrow night. The worst winter here in a long, long time.

I told my daugther that if school was canceled tomorrow too that I was going to home school her. "But Daddy, you don't even know anything!" was her response. She's six. She'll be suprised how much Daddy has 'learned' by the time she is twenty-five.

Room for one more Rand? Since our weather 'warmed up', ie gone from just below freezing to just above freezing weve had two dry days. The rest have been wet, cold and windy. Damned British weather.

We can compare snowfall and see who gets more ... I'll assume you will get more on this storm, Rand

We are looking at 9-15", so I have the snowblower primed and ready.

I'm with you bud. I live in Northern Virginia and we got blasted hard by these seemingly epic storms. I guess I'll just stock up on Monsters before the weekend and see you all in game for a while >: )

The current "official" warning from National Weather Service is 16 to 24 inches. I win. \

EDIT: correction, Freaktion and I win.

Ever take a walk outside after a snow storm? It's probably the most peaceful and quiet you can get around here.

                      I love that.

Also, if you live in a area with little lighting it seems so bright, and you can see many things you usually don't at night.

Yeah. I really need to buy a snowsuit/surplus set of fatigues. I had that when I was a teenager and it was awesome to just go out, drop into a giant bank, and let it snow. I don't own anything waterproof or warm enough now.

Oh, and did I say 16 to 24 inches? My bad: 18-26 now, and going up.

Juneau, I live in an area with a lot of light pollution, but the previous snow the other night was so thick that it blocked the bad light and diffused the rest, and the moon is still mostly full, so it was very bright and very cool around midnight.

Rand and Freaktion.... just wanted to check in on you guys How's everything? House bound?

We've only had 5 or 6 inches here so far... it just switched from snow to freezing rain/sleet the past hour. Hoping I get to use my generator at some point.

OH, and be sure to post some pictures when you get a chance!
