Here's our little bit of snow... freezeing rain now.

Nothing here yet. It started in B'more around 11:30, so we should see something within the hour.

There is so much food at our house for a SB party that won't get eaten as people cancel due to snow, so I will scrap the diet and eat like a pig this weekend.

A lot of extreme storms this year (I remember your posts a few weeks back). They do say that with the climate change such occurances will be more common.

I ventured to the grocery store at lunch... thought this sign was amusing.

We don't have accumulation yet, but we do have dangerous road conditions. I'm still at work; the county exec hasn't shut us down so far.

The forecast is now putting this one pretty darn close to the all-time record of 26". Our range is a very solid 20-30 inches for the prediction now.

The majority will fall overnight, when people can't just sit and watch it snow very well.

Every Superbowl party in the county except at the University of Maryland dorms will be cancelled. The stores were nuts last night--we waited one hour in line. Milk was in good supply, the good brands of bread were gone, any kind of snack that can be dipped into something was gone, and most non-bulk meat was gone, as were baking supplies. It seems that half the people where I live are planning on cooking throughout the storm.

All our local networks have been on constant storm coverage since about noon; at least one of them is going to go non-stop until midnight.

Bus service for the DC Circulator will shut down at 9. Metro rail stops above ground service at 8 inches. Reagan National is already closed through tomorrow night and Dulles may as well be (BWI also).

We only have about 4-5 inches so far. More reports may come at random times unless I lose power.

EDIT: oh, I forgot--my county was added to the blizzard warning that will start at 10pm and run until 10pm tomorrow night. Yay, I guess.

6" here so far. I just watched a 3" high pile on top of a thumb thick power line (!!!) fall off during a slight wind gust. Its amazing seeing a power line as thick as your thumb that appears 3.5" thick from the house.

I had taken a few pics of the last 18+" dumping we had back in December, so I will post them in comparison to this one in a bit.

Edit: Added December pics - one of the backyard (left a table on the deck .. we called it our Angel Food cake table):

                  And another of the front:

Two more added from back in December, 2003. I forget how much we got then, but I'd guess it was around 20+" as well.

WT, my daughter (6) just saw your pictures and said she wanted to go to your house!

My power is out right now... snow this morning, change to rain. Ground is saturated right now, pine trees falling everywhere, transformers blowing up (nice greenish glow in the sky when it happens). Freezing rain overnight and high 25 MPH winds. It's going to be rough. Have enough gas stockpiled right now to run the generator for 24 hours, can siphon out of the Durango and go another 36 if I have too.

And my life laughed at me when I rewired the branch circuits and put in a transfer panel a few years back! She's thankful now. Finally.

Only bad thing is the cable modem is also out... so can't play TF2 . Don't think my tethered blackberry could handle the required bandwidth.

All you guys north of me, stay safe!

Haha, we are sitting tight this weekend !! My kids are sooo excited to get out and make a snowman, then make snow ice cream. My wife left a recipe open on a tab on my browser:

                        http://allrecipes.com/Recipe-Tools/P...ail&servings=8

While they play, I'm snowblowing. Then we paint two bedrooms (sigh, the fun is over then). Sunday is a lotta cooking for SB party. I'd love to get my ATV out and ride, but I'm right on a snow emergency route so the cops would be on me in two minutes tops.

I was just watching the news... Duke Power is DONE for the night because of the conditions, they plan on picking things back up tomorrow morning. So no hope for power being restored overnight.

Now I need to give my step sons some brief generator training so they can gas the thing back up at about 2:00 AM EST this morning. They will probably be up most of the night playing the xbox anyway. They are so happy that they can play the xbox with generator power. They appreciate my labors now as well. Note that the xbox is plugged into a UPS... as well as my computers in my man cave.

Starscream is happy that my cable modem is down and I won't be able to pwn him... Enjoy your time on the TF2 server, Starscream... I'm coming to get you as soon as my cable modem is restored!

But seriously... What part of VA do you live in? I thought most of the state was getting hammered.

Holy crap .... 22+ here and its won't stop snowing until tonight. The dogs just looked at me like "you expect me to go out in that" ???

Guess there is no point in bothering to start snowblowing, as we could see another 6+ on top of what we already have.
