The first agency in the list is where my son goes for his summer program as well as his job. These places take the kids/adults into the community to teach them "life skills". The lady made a comment on there about how the counselor's talk to the kids about things that make the patrons feel uncomfortable, what about those who sit and talk about church and relief society and those that don't go to church? More so than ANYTHING, these agencies don't take these people into the library to counsel them. If it weren't for these agencies, most people w/ disabilities would not be able to use the library because it's not handicap accessible. Also, the claim of them taking up one table for two of them. Like Scott says in the interview, that's social something or other. Heaven forbid you sit next to someone that is disabled, you might catch something. You go into the library and the little kids are running rampant while the moms are sitting in a corner talking about relief society. The college kids on the cell phones. But yet it's the ones with disabilities that are causing the problems.

Sorry if I don't make much sense but this really, and I mean really makes me mad. The article came out on a news site this afternoon and the library claimed it was a misunderstanding and to come to the meeting tomorrow to voice your opinions. Well the meeting was tonight. I feel that they said it was a misunderstanding in hopes that less people would show up.

This town is beyond ignorant. And yes, that is why I am going to school. So that I can get my family out of here.

No, I didn't get to go to the meeting because I was under the impression that it was tonight. I'm going to go to UVI this afternoon and see if I can meet w/ one of the people in there to see what actions are going to be taken and if I can help in any way.

No they can't as far as I know it, but stupid people are everywhere.

It's too bad. Libraries are where I had some of my best summer camps and activities...and there were always other kids around so it was a chance to see and meet people outside of my private grade school (which was pretty much all white, upper middle class).

To try to lighten the situation a bit, isn't it odd that the library director's last name is Dewey??

Wow...I guess we live in a perfect society where no one has any problems and forgot to tell me about it! It is really disheartening to read about that. I hope that enough people get together to "fight" it because things like this tend to happen when people turn a blind eye and figure it is happening to someone else, it doesn't concern them. Hang in there!
