Just curious who else is watching EarthQuake activity

Is anyone else watching the increase in EarthQuake activity this year. When I got my new phone in Jan. 24hr activity didn't fill but about one page, now it's unreal.

I heard something about this on the news this morning... US Geological Survey says it is normal activity but it seems like much more reported activity to me. I wish I had paid more attention to the report now.

No, but I'm sick of my idiot friends saying this is the beginning of the end, referring to 2012.

No-one is moaning about apocalpyse here, but I have noticed more Earthquake activity in recent months.

Mexico City, then big gap, and now several big quakes in a row.

I know we have mini quakes all the time, but the big ones are pretty newsworthy, and more of them in the "Significant" variety.

We do here at work and 9:54 am here in San Diego, we felt something. We think it was an aftershock of Calexico's earthquake, 6.0 I think.

NatGEO (the National Geographic Channel ) actually did a report on this, and they interviewed two top USGS employees who actually said that they havent seen this type of activity ever.

They said that looking across the geological timeline, it certainly isnt unusual, but when looking at records of indication for geological activity- we have not seen this before.

It's confusing, but its their way of saying that it certainly is in the norm of regular activity, but that we have not seen this happen in a very long time for such a sustained period of time- and certainly not since we actually began modern recording of earthquakes.

My awareness began with the 7.0 off the coast of Oregon. And since then I have seen more of the same making its way around the Pacific Plate like a game of musical chairs. I reccomend that anyone living near an area that has a possibility of geological activity, no matter how rare it is, stock up on a few pallets of bottled water and some canned goods- if you havent already.

Here in California, severe events that would force us to stockpile these goods just dont exist (tornados, hurricanes, blizzards, etc) - and we are used to earthquakse. HOWEVER- if two 7.0+ earthquakes were to occur in Northern and Southern California within a short time-frame, such as 72 hours, the entire infrastructure here would be dead in a scenario similar to Katrina.

75% of our freshwater is behind dams at resevoirs that pipe the water down underground canals- if 2 of the 4 majors were to go out, we would be screwed. You need to stockpile 36 oz of water per person per day, with a max of 7 days supply. Because let's face it, we're all getting the hell out of here if we lose our cable TV and internet for more than a day....

That's exactly what I'm not really saying but more of feeling Hammy. Something just doesn't feel right. I've been watching earth quake activity for a while now, not really like a hawk but more like the tools are there so I look and say hey there another batch.

It's just something that I can't put my finger on really like it's jumping around more and heavier focus in the area it starts in. CA and the line up the coast curving around AK has alway beens numberous on the individual deep rumbles but it's like these larger, Haiti, Chili, Baja, Turkey type are leading up to or preventing a much larger individual one or batch.

I wonder if there is something pulling at the earth's gravity somewhere causing the plates to shift due to the earth flexing or something?

And I don't remember seeing so many 7.0s and higher.

Unfortunately, this is not an April Fools Day prank, just a member of Congress acting hilariously aloof. After debating the exact size of Guam for a full minute with a military commander before concluding that it is "a small island," U.S. Representative Hank Johnson reveals his fear: that more U.S. troops will cause Guam to "tip over" and sink into the ocean.

The best part of hearing Johnson say, "My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize," is hearing the commander try to explain why it's probably -- no, definitely -- not going to happen.

This may be the cause of earthquake activity.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
