Best U.S. patriotic song EVER!

So my friend got back from all his Army training and I think this last one was his AIT. Well when he said he was pulling up around the corner of my street, I quickly grabbed my stereo and played, "God Bless America" by Lee Greenwood as loud as the stereo could be played. He got our of his car and immediately started crying and gave me the biggest hug a friend could give, saying, "It's good to be home."

So what started out as a joke, got very emotional for him and then me. This song has always got me crying when I hear it but didn't know that it touched him like that as well. I just wanted to share that with you all.

I find it kinda trite and corny I much prefer "America the Beautiful"

That song is the first thing I heard as I stepped off the plane when returning from Desert Storm. Trite? Not. Both songs are great in my opinion.

Im sorry but personally I do not like this song its cheesy, as Moe said America the beautiful is much better.

To each their own. America the Beautiful a great song but to me, it is a song that is more hyped up and used for too many events as God Bless the USA only gets a handful of events/holidays where it is played.

When I was in boot camp they played this song over our barracks pa system when we were about 5 weeks along. It was the 1st piece of music we had heard in over a month except for marching songs. Everybody in the whole place started crying.
