Southwest Airlines....mechanical failure is an act of God?

Southwest: Breakdown is now an act of God

Wow...any comments about this Duke? This doesn't sound like a good customer satisfaction policy, even if they stick to their current levels. And as the article says, some other companies may not play as nice with it.

At American and American Eagle a maintenance delay would be one that would get some sort of compensation. So if you missed your connection due to a maintenance problem the company would put you up until the next flight but if it were for weather or ATC then you are screwed.

It could be that Southwest is protecting against a catastrophic event like if the FAA were to ground all 737s or something like that and that they plan on helping stranded passengers in most situations. Who knows??

As an aircraft mechanic I will never fly on Southwest. And I don't like their policies toward passengers either. They overbook and bump people like it was a sport. Continental, American, or even Delta. But never Southwest.

wow. so their engineers could totally neglect an aircraft, and if it fails mechanically, it is gods fault?

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
