    Weak A/C Thermostat Batteries?

I was wondering, if the batteries in a household Thermostat A/C unit gets weak, will it affect the entire unit (ie - running of the A/C itself, or perhaps runs the A/C but not cool things down or something?)

I was just wondering what happens there, I dont want to call an A/C guy saying the AC unit isn't cool..... just to have him come out here and tell me I needed to just needed to change the batteries in the Thermostat itself.

Wouldnt hurt to pop in another AA.

Kinda sounds like a program that they do here. You get a really nice programmable thermostat (its got like a 6 inch touch lcd screen on it). The catch is when its really hot outside. The power company can cycle your ac off for 15 min once an hour, but the blower still works. Worth it to me. I've seen my electric bills drop by about 30% with this new thermostat.

Mine has a little battery indicator on it when the batteries are in need of a change, I'm sure most of them do. If the batteries go out, it's an all or nothing thing, nothing is going to work (evaporator or condenser). Weak batteries won't affect how well it cools.

The batteries only power the thermostat. They only affect cooling in that the thermostat will not work.

Yeah, I dont think that a simple battery would not cause the unit not to cool

I woke up this morning, and the Central air sounded a little "weak", I think the "FAN" is out, but the A/C is working...i was putting my hands up to the vents, and I could barely feel any air "blowing" out.....so I think the fan, which is the part that pipes the air through all the vents went out on me....so it's going to be a HOT one until the AC guy arrives. lol

Yeah, apparently batteries last forever in really low-voltage stuff...ie. Remote Controls for TV/DVD/Entertainment systems...I can't remember when I changed batteries last in my TV Remote. LOL

Yep Thermostat batteries won't affect your cooling system (except that if they're dead you can't control it). It's basically just the computer control system for AC and heating, and it'd be like having your computer monitor off...the computer still runs, you just can't control it with your interface.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
