    Hackers

I just heard about a trojan that can empty your bank account but won't show any change in balance online.

Seriously! Can we please put these hackers to death? Are they being caught? If so I want to hear about them being put in the slammer. They make me think dark thoughts like Vlad the Impaler. I want to crush them, see them driven before me, and to hear the lamintations of their women!

Not if they make it look like you withdrew the money. You don't get a cent. By the way, where do you think all this money is going to? What if it's being used to fund terrorism? Or something else equally bad? It is a big deal.

It's going to fund organized crime. I'm curious can you post a link?

That doesn't make any sense.....wouldn't the virus have to be on the Banking Institutions servers/database in order to show "phantom balance"

I bet if you go to an ATM machine, you could get your true balance that way.

This is the first I've heard of it.

@Tony, I believe the answer to you question is, the trojan would have to be on the banks server.

My wife saw this mentioned on CNN this morning. They stated that it was happening in Europe right now.

AH I think I know how it works. It's familiar with the the banks website and can do math. When it makes the transaction it actually rewrites the html sent your clients browser. So when you log into your bank account. The trojan on your machine will submit a wire transfer. Then it calculates what your balance should look like. It then rewrites the html sent to the browser and hides the wire transfer and makes the balance look like before the wire transfer. Your browser then just renders the page and you don't see it. Because the trojan is local on your system it has access to the HTTPS tunnel through the browser.

Looks like I'm right. Another note of interest is that it's a java script thats propagated through compromised website or adverts

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
