What gun did you learn with?

Recently, a gentlemen on the NRA facebook page, commented and asked what he should start teaching his son on for his first rifle.

Well this brought back some memories for me so I posted the following link. It's the actual Mossberg .22 rifle I learned to shoot on and it's now in my possession after Pa passed. There are so many memories in this long gun.

Pa made me read that fracking gun safety pamplet about 100 times before he allowed me to pull the trigger. This reading was spread out over many months of riding with him to cattle and pig actions, equipment actions, etc. etc.

    Enjoy:

A Marlin .22 single Shot. A Marlin .22 semi auto and an antique 8 gage double barrel shotgun. The shotgun was owned by my Uncle. And yes it kicked like a mule.
The first gun I bought with my own money was a Marlin 336c in .30 Cal. I still have it.
    Apache

Where do you put the Bayonet?

That's wild, that's the first one I bought at 18. Marlin 336C .30-30 and yes I still have it

My actual first gun my Pa bought me when I turned 16. It was a Universal .30 carbine. I think he didn't mind getting me that one since it was short range and accurate.

My dad's Sears and Roebuck .22 semi-auto rifle. I lost the magazine tube for it. I was in a boat on my uncle's pond shooting water moccasins. I reloaded and didn't get the tube relatched all the way. On the first shot the tube went flying out the end of the magazine and to the bottom of the pond. I could kick myself for that.

BB gun when I was young (pre-teen lol), but my first "real" gun was a .22 bolt action. I'm not sure of the specifics of the gun but my friend let me shoot it. He had a scope mounted on it so I liked to pretend I was sniping targets lol

I actually learned (and still practice) archery first as a nine year old. Regardless the obvious mechanical differences the same lessons for sighting and breath control are the same. I didn't get a firearm till I was an adult and that was my Remington 700 .308

I got into trouble at a Boy Scout Jamboree. They actually had a shooting range with .22 rifles. I would be surprised if they still do. The targets were hung between two wires. You guessed it, I used to shoot the wires.

Was it a 336? The C model has a pistol grip stock and the T model has a straight stock.

I think Apache was asking about the Marlin 30/30. Was it the discontinued T model or the C model. The C newer C model is shown in the link below and has a angle grip.
