I have the option to test out of a class. It's rather tempting but I'm not sure if I want to. What is everyone's thoughts?
Here's what it says if I do:
NOTE: To Test-out of this class, you must pass this exam at 90% or above before the first Friday of the first week of the class.
Information about Testing Out of a Class
1. This class will not count as attempted credit as far as financial aid is concerned.
2. This will not reduce the amount of tuition a student owes like a transfer credit would.
3. This does not hurt or help your G.P.A. A "PE" is NOT a grade. It is "Pass-by-Exam".
The first item is the most crucial. Because PE?s don?t count as attempted credit for financial aid, you may need to be put in another course to work on that module if necessary. (This is important because you could potentially fall short of the required attempted credits for a Pell or FA disbursement, and you do not want that to happen.)
In addition, if you test out of too many courses, thus shortening the length of your program, this will also hurt you financially. If your program length is shortened, it reduces the number of financial aid and Pell disbursements you receive, and you will end up owing more out of your own pocket.
If you pass with 90% or more
* You will receive a "PE" on your transcript.
* You will not need to do any of the work in this class for the rest of this class module, but I encourage you to log in regularly.
* After you have completed this, please confirm on your transcript that you have a "PE" for this class. Notify me if this is not completed.
