    My favorite beer, gone!

JohnyRico's thread on Oktoberfests made me look up some of my favorites, and I learned that one the I often called my favorite has been discontinued: Young's Oatmeal Stout. Here is a brief article on it's demise.http://www.beeraday.net/beer/youngs-oatmeal-stout/ Has anyone ever had Young's Oatmeal Stout? It was truly a wonderful beer.

So, does anyone out there have any favorite stouts/porters that might compare? A few that I still love are Samuel Smith's "Taddy Porter" or Lake Louie's "Tommy's Porter" (a very good brewery in Arena, Wisconsin). They're all good, but, of course, all slightly different.

Skud whenever a favorite beer of mine goes out I find a recipe and brew up a keg of it. After a quick search I found this recipe that claims to be a young's oatmeal stout.

Thanks, Duke. My brother helped me brew a porter kit years ago, and it turned out pretty well. However, it's unlikely that I'll buy the parts and try to resurrect the memories of the production, even for the sake of Young's Oatmeal Stout.

And, JohnyRico, I do enjoy a Guiness now and then...it seems to be one of the few stouts that can be found in a large percentage of bars. I'll jot down your local beer, just in case some of the stores with larger micro brew selections in the area might carry it. both.

I've had my stretches of chewy beers as well.

Current fav is Smithwich's.. It's lighter than Guiness, but much heaver that the USA Light Lager's
(I.E. colored water, or not even that with Coor's) lol

But Coors' cans change colors! LMAO (now there's marketing money they might have instead spent on, say, hops for their beer)

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
