'Tis my birthday and I'm 31. At least I'm not 30, too bad its going the wrong way. Anyway, I'm off to drink myself stupid, and either play some console games (SSF4) or shoot pool. Maybe both at different points. I might even smoke something if offered.

Regardless, if I end up at my computer at 4am and make any stupid posts, enjoy it while it lasts, I'll make sure to edit it when I'm sober.... I won't get into my 30th birthday drunk posts on a few other forums... I'll suffice it as they were ...bad...

Anyhow, TTFN... time to go get stupid.

Ended up crashing at my friends... left my lights on purposefully, necessitating a jump start to leave. His computer is temporarily dysfunctional thanks to him not cleaning it, so no drunken debauchery took place online.

Yes there was drinking, yes there was Super Street Fighter 4, yes I ended up worshiping the porcelain god.

Woke up bright and early just after 7am, had a serving of hair of the dog, borrowed his keys for a jump start, and was at work at 8am with my headache already gone.

As an aside, Harvest Moon, the seasonal flavor by the makers of Blue Moon is great. Also consumed was Pyrat XO Reserve, my favorite rum.

I've never had that Rum but it sounds good. The 'best' Ive ever had was Private stock by capt Morgan. Speaking of which i need to go get another bottle of it to complete my pirate costume...

I haven't had Pyrat (more of a bourbon guy: "Rowan's Creek" FTW), I'll have to give it a shot some day. Have any of you tried Flor De Cana, a Nicaraguan dark rum? It's a very good rum...blows stuff like Bicardi out of the water, and at a better price.

Oh god, between myself, a good friend, a guy that works at ABC, and a bartend I know... Captain Morgan's Private Stock is a joke. Its just a high quality mixer, its not meant for being served neat.

Pyrat XO Reserve is about $30 a bottle, and my favorite.

Bacardi, Capt Morgan, et al are all just mass produced mixer rums.

My 'favorite favorite' rum is one I've had 1 shot of so far. The Pyrat 1623. At $350 a bottle, I can't call it a favorite since I'm not going to be buying it.

For any rum enthusiasts, avoid Kraken. ABC started carrying it recently, and it has a very hard varnish taste, with a slightly citrus and drain cleaner finish. Perhaps it can be used in mixed drinks requiring a dark rum with lots of other stuff.

I hate to say this guys but rum is for girlie drinks and pirates. I will stick to my single malt scotch and small batch bourbons. Oban 14 year is my favorite scotch and Basil Haydens my favorite bourbon.
