Wakefield Track and Field HS T Shirts

WAKEFIELD, Mass., Nov. 2 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts high school's track team is raising controversy with sweatshirts bearing the team's initials, WTF.

The shirts, handed out by the Wakefield Track and Field team's boosters organization after the last season, are causing controversy with parents and officials due to the initials, WTF, also representing a popular colloquialism for Internet chatting and text messaging containing a vulgar term, WCVB-TV, Boston, reported Tuesday.

Superintendent Joan Landers said she was unaware of the double meaning behind the initials and the phrase is not the way she wants students represented.

It's the towns fault for having the name.. lol. Seriously, how is that one going to be fixed? I think that stuff like that is just stupid. Why does the negative always have to be thought of?
So go on, go on be your own, go on be your own star!

It's amazing how whats printed on T-shirts causes accidental controversy. Like when Target had to recall their line of shirts with the number "88" printed on them after pressure by the anti deformation league.

There's a part of me that is more upset that the WTF shirts became news worthy than what was printed on them lol.
Old school or the new, doesn't mean a thing if your heart's not true...
