Is Black Friday @ Walmart worth it?

My dad is considering doing Black Friday with me this Friday, at 5 am.....and we're going to gether.

Like to get the LOW LOW Price on a certain flat screen TV....is black Friday really worth it??

    I say no.
#1- What's the brand of that flat screen t.v.? They don't tell you because it's seriously less then the price they are selling it at.
#2- When they "say" they are going to have a limited supply of certain items, it doesn't mean that the WalMart you are planning on going to is going to have it.

I read something the other day about it the other day. The article talked a lot about how the stores advertise for items but they don't carry them, they only say that to get you into the store to check out other items that that look to good.

On another note, if you are planning on hitting WalMart, check their hours. Some WalMarts are staying open 24 hours and then @ 5 putting out the hot ticket items.
So go on, go on be your own, go on be your own star!

Well, that's the case for a typical sale...but I don't think Black Friday is a "typical ploy" to get people to their store, even if they don't have the item that's advertising.

Now the brand name, I do agree with you there.

No. You can find good deals, especially on HDTVs, elsewhere this year. Right now and probably until about January there is a massive oversupply of HDTV so the prices will be low for a while.

Brand name HDTVs--with the exception of Sony, which is always the highest priced model, but even they are cheaper--have already been available for as low as 350-400 for 32" 1080p models. So depending on what you want to get, it's possible to get a name brand for not much else than whatever Walmart-peddled item you're eyeing is going for.

In general, the "doorbuster" items for Black Friday are usually available in quantities of 10 or less per store (regardless of store), and all of them require tickets. If you're not one of those ticket holders whenever they pass them out, you've just wasted hours of time.

Retailers use these juicy deals to entice shoppers into their store, that's when the switcheroo happens. Even if you didn't score the bargain you wanted, sellers hope that since you are already there, you'll probably grab some other deals instead.

Like others have said, no. (dont forget the fact that you could be trampled to death like the walmart greeter from last year).

Retailers will only have a certain amount of stock no matter where where you are in line. So unless you're really early (5am wont cut it) I wouldn't bother.

HDTV wise check out Vizio. I've had great results with em and so have my family.

If you want to risk it (I've thought about it). Setup shop with a grill and hot chocolate. Sell hot-dogs for 2-3 bucks per and cups of hot chocolate for whatever to people in line. Risk is getting busted by the police for selling food without a license, reward is some great profit.

I would check out the black Friday deals online and if you see something you want and the price is right, well then get your clicking finger ready and go

They call it Cyber Monday. I think Black Monday is too close to either Black Sunday or Black Tuesday in people's minds.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
