When i heard the report i was actually quite shocked to hear he was 84. I never really thought of him as being that old even though he'd been around for what seemed an eternity.Comment

It is a sad day. I was hopping to hear a few more Airplane movie jokes on the radio today but i didn't hear any. At least while I was landing this morning my FO said "I just wanted you to know we are all counting on you".

He started out as a dramatic actor and only got into comedies later in life. Just think how many funny movie parts he could have played if he had started earlier.

Rather ironic, but I was watching Naked Gun on Saturday when the kids ran into the room (ages 6 and 4 .. yes, I'm a bad parent ) but I didn't change the channel and they sat down to watch with me.
And then I read a day later that he passed ...
I loved the original 'Police Squad' shows that the movie was based off of.
