    New Phone-EVO

Well, I upgraded my Hero to the HTC EVO (Sprint).

I have to say this thing is just unreal. The screen size is awesome and so far the speed and quality of it has really impressed me.

I compared just the screen side by side with my buddies iPhone and it really is a huge screen for a phone.

So far I have to say, no regrets

How is the sound quality when talking? I have found that since I bought my Droid Devour that the flatness of the phone makes it sound like crap and it's hard to have a conservation. it's the same on my wife's crackberry too.

I will look at the EVO in a few months when I'm eligible for a new phone.

Hint Hint. Looks at the Samsung Galaxy S. Aka Virbrant, aka Fascinate, aka Captivate, aka Epic 4G.

Why the US has to have a different name for each carrier is stupid imo. They all look slightly different too. Can no 2 carriers sell the same phone?

You see my version (unlocked) very quickly at the begining. Apparently the vibrant is the closest to the original Galaxy S design.

edit: LOL you get Avatar on the T-Mobile version!

It looks like the Verizon version is the Fascinate, the next time i drop by the Verizon store I'll check one out.

How come they're all different? I'm really intrigued now.

            It's probably some marketing scheme.

Like Duke said, one way or another, it's always marketing. Most people don't have time or interest to peak under the covers.

The USA mobile carriers really cherish their aura of exclusivity, even when it's imaginary. ("Nobody else offers our new Fascinate.")

Also, I believe marketing execs would rather eat their pets than spend advertising dollars on the same phone as offered by another carrier. Those slightly different models shipped to each carrier avoid that. So, it's a good thing!

I agree with Duke Juneau. It's all a marketing strategy. There is no logical reason other than that for manufacturers to see the same phone to different companies with a different name and slightly different look.

Example: Look at the Ford and Mercury car lines history or look at Chevrolet and GMC with trucks.

Oh by the way, no problems so far Rogue7.

The only thing I am really kind of missing from my HTC Hero is the convenience of the seperate buttons for pick-up and hang-up. It was easier to voice dial etc. I'm fixing up some pics for differences in the handling size between the HTC Hero and HTC EVO.

Ok, here ya go. The first pic is just a side by side comparison of my HTC Hero and the new HTC EVO.

Now this pic is just showing how big it is when holding it. Notice the smaller Hero is much more secure, which takes a little getting use to. I really need to find a good neoprene case by Body Glove or someone, just in case.
