What's the appeal of going to Midnight showings?

Someone in my group of friends suggested going to the midnight showing of TRON Which is on Thurs night.

I do want to see this movely pretty badly, but not THAT badly.

    Why?

    1. You have to be up for work the next morning
    2. It's too late
    3. It's on a WEEKnight, not a Fri or Sat night where you can sleep in the next day

So seriously, what's the deal with putting yourself through this?

I would have thought you of all folks would be on the midnight showing train, Tony. It's the experience of it I think. I'm too old at 34 now to care anymore, but the hardest of hard core fans are at those showings, and the atmosphere just tends to be better than other times. Also, less chance of crying babies disrupting the experience, and a greater chance of people shouting down anyone daring to use cell phones during the show.

There are less crowds due to the reason you listed.

It's all about saying that you've already seen it before most other people isn't it? Especially now Facebook, twitter etc are around.

              Oh this is easy,

              1. You can always sleep at work.
              2. Really?

It's not just about seeing a movie at midnight, it's the whole experience. For me its about waiting online talking with other like minded Geeks, arguing which Dr. Who doctor was better. Pacard vs Kirk ect. Then after its over you walk out disappointed, the original was way better and you cant believe you came out this late to see it.

Then we go to a bar or diner. Get like three apetizers, steak cut fries smothered in gravy and mozzarella cheese. A big plate of loaded nachos with seasoned beef, three cheeses, jalapenos, black beans. And finally a basket with like, 50 or 60 hot wings, ooh yeah.

And Beers, 20oz drafts. Good beers like Sam Adams or Guiness.

Then just talk about the movie and video games, flirt with the pretty waitress, maybe wash the appetizers down with a Big juicey bacon cheese burger or a big basket of chicken fingers.

But thats just me, damn I'm hungry now.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
