That one hurts a lot of fantasy players, but think about what it does to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, who just paid that guy 2 million over the off-season, and he played for them all of 5 games. I hope they had some clauses to get their money back.
The story they put out this week was he left the team for family/personal reasons back on Thursday (maybe Wednesday). I'm wondering if he told them he was actually going to NYC to deal with the bust. I'm certain he didn't bother talking to them about retiring before he did it to avoid a 100 game suspension.
