Nice concept, very tempting. That is, until I realized that the FCC is very likely putting a lot of nice little spy gear in the hardware to track illegal downloads et. al.

So I wonder if they base your chances on population density ? Me out here in the burbs ... I don't have enough neighbors to take advantage of it, plus my DSL 3.0/768 speed is getting left in the dust by any cable setup.

Ohhh, to have and enjoy FIOS ... that is my dream

I agree with Rand, don't trust them.

So what are you worried about? Just get a long fiber line, find a nice isolated spot in KCK, and splice yourself in.

It would be trivial to sniff the network looking for such things. I sincerely doubt the FCC would do such a thing due to the massive amount of bad press it would get.

This is an organization that charges ~$200,000 PER STATION for an accidental F-bomb on a live broadcast, and you think they're worried about bad press?

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
