I just read that Wisconsin's old, drunk-a$$ governor Tommy Thompson is running for Herb Kohl's senate seat! I'm looking forward to a few zinger speeches to remind the world what that Wisconsin is the greatest state on the greatest planet with the greatest people that ever shlepfemmrpfh on their highhfrmevers! One would hope however, that a governor (not just a fan there with buddies) planning to give a speech in front of 80,000 people, to be televised throughout the state, would stay sober enough to know what the hell he was saying (but then again, he might have been sober when he came up with "Green Bay Packer Day"...so, yeah, his foolishness is all-encompasing)...almost as funny is that after his terms he was made Secretary of Heath and Human Services by Bush: yeah, yeah, let's put a boozer in charge of that!

I know cold, man, I live in Wisconsin. I've never seen a cold person slur their speech, never.

And no, it's not a big deal...I read that he was running, and the first thing I thought of was this, my fondest memory of the stooge...so I posted it to share with others...a virtual replication of the act, if sitting with friends, of saying when hearing the news of his intent, "lol, Tommy?!!! Do you remember that speech he gave at Lambeau?!!!"...of course, it seems as if you might not have been sitting there with me.

I grew up in WI. I remember waiting outside for the school bus numerous times as a kid. When your jaw is shivering and your face is starting to numb up it does affect your ability to talk. I honestly don't think he was drunk, so it has to be something else.

I've heard cold make people stutter, chatter, etc., but I've never heard any distortion (from cold) like when he tries to say "Miami" or some of the others in his speech. I've seen oodles of folks affected that way by liquor, and none by cold. At any rate, it's too late to do a blood alcohol test, and it wouldn't change the world anyway, so I'll just assume/believe he perhaps made a little judgment error, started the celebrating a wee early and had his error etched in history...and you can believe it was the cold that did it. No harm done either way for either of us, I'm guessing.
