Silly Brits - World Shin Kicking Contest !

    http://www.digtriad.com/news/waterco...ace-In-England

The Shin-Kicking World Championships is a bruising discipline, not for faint hearted competitors or spectators.

Organizers say it's an age old fascination with pain that makes the Shin Kicking the main "Olimpick" event that draws the biggest crowds.

Well, at least they don't aim higher than that. It could get painful.

Doesn't have to aim higher to be painful. Good chance everyone walks away with broken toes and half the guys broken shins.

See, we just need a hog calling contest to prove our manliness here in the US.
I hope it doesn't catch on, as we will undoubtedly screw it up, just like making an Americanized version of 'Top Gear'.

'Screwing it up' just doesn't quite cut it for that abomination.

I wish I was in my twenties again. We used to condition our shins and used the shin to kick people with. Watching some one's expression when you slam your shin into theirs is priceless.

The crazy things we would do when we were young.
This was not as crazy as it sounds. You would toughen specific parts of your body to with stand shock and pain. This is done, not by tearing down the body. (ie the mistaken belief that you had to break your knuckles by pounding a Makiwara "a 2X4 set in the ground with some padding that you punch") The proper use of a Makiwara was to build up calluses over your knuckles that protected them when hitting a hard object.

We used to call that face or head blocking.
