I'm sure her family is mourning and trying to deal with the media attention. For that, I feel bad.

I personally find it very hard to feel bad for her. Who was she? A little rich girl who totally threw away her own potential. You know, we all suffer. We all have our demons and all go through our stuff. People go through some horrible things. I think of Dennis and his cancer. His wife, his children.

She had way more of a say in how she lived (and died) than the people in Somalia, Sudan and Norway.

So really, yes, it is sad someone died. I find it utterly pathetic the amount of media attention this is getting. Our society's fixation on "stars" is pretty damn sad.

The most bizarre coincidence though is the age of death of Winehouse, Cobain, Hendrix, Morrison, and Joplin--all 27, all tremendously talented.

This fact alone is what makes me believe that it wasn't all an "accident".

That's what I was thinking. I remember the song. Yep, that's why I wrote "as Cobain quoted". I didn't want to get into the backstory of the quote and derail the thread the originator wasn't the focus of putting the quote, but as Cobain was the first to quote it in his "suicide" letter, I thought it apropos to post it up in discussing Winehouse's "death".
