The worst thing about living in such a Mormon based community is that Holidays that fall on Sundays, are not celebrated on Sundays, IE.. 4th of July and Halloween.
I knew that homecoming was coming up and I kept asking my oldest if he wanted to go. He told me no, he only wanted to go to the game but see if his girlfriend wanted to go with him. Only problem was, he was confused as to when everything was happening. I knew the dance was tomorrow and I "thought" the game was tonight but I could not figure out why there was no parade or spirit week. Anyways, my son calls this morning and tells me he was voted homecoming king.. Freaking awesome!! So then I asked him if was going to go to the dance but he said he still didn't know. Shortly after I got off the phone w/ him his teacher called to clarify some things, mostly to make sure it was ok that he was voted king. Well, the dance is really tomorrow but spirit week, parade and the game are all next weekend. Why? Sounds stupid really. Well again, it is because of the Mormon holiday. There is conference next Sunday and they cannot have homecoming interfering. I just think it is crazy the way everything revolves around the church.
