    Ouchie Ouchie little Civic!

    I HAVE A LITTLE STORY!

I recently swapped my motor, went from the stock d16 stock 105hp, 240,000km to a b16a sirII 100,000km, the swap itself is very good, love the new sound (although I need to switch to a 2.5 exhaust for it to breath correctly and not sound like a tin can), love the 60hp performance hop and everything but a little problem arised!

I gave my civic an ouchie, basically.. was going to work this morning, everything ran fine for 10 minutes, 2 streets away from my destination, turn the corner and PLOP PLOP PLOP FLOP *POW* PLOP goes the car (almost precisely).

I figured.. AH the gas pump must be F/%$(!!! I stopped in a parking lot as fast as I could, started again, engine was shaking violently and sounded as if gas was going to it in little disorganized bursts so I left it there and walked to work, waited 30 minutes, tried starting it and all it did when I turned the key, it would crank, everything worked, it just wouldn't start

Then I tried 1 hour later, it ran fine, really fine for about 5 minutes, stopped and let it idle a bit, PLOP PLOP PLOP *POW* RUMP RUMP POW PLOP

    yeeaaaahhh.... WHUZZZAAATT!!?!?

1 hour later, started it, it worked fine, idle was very good and all.. and I thought "**** it, I'm not paying a towing" forced it to run until I reached my honda specialist (not an official honda garage, they'd do a bunch of useless pricy *repairs* before actually fixing my car)

Anyway, on the way there I had to give it some gaz every time I slowed down, was winding the motor like crazy, would slow down at stops and kick it in second gear, it'd go very slow and do the same noises again then sort of "unlock" and run well after 2-3 seconds in second gear, pedal to the metal..

I get there, engine is doing all sorts of noises, turn it off..

Show it to my mecanic.. he gets in, starts the car, laughs and says (as if it was obvious) "the timing belt slipped"

He turns the key again.. *POW* HUGEMONGUS back fire, nasty gaz/oil sounds and then he says "your timing belt is F*****" (sorry, had to use that word lol)

I ask him what could have caused the belt to slip..

He answers "Because the car is in too good of a shape and it's very well maintained"

I have a dinstinct feeling he was making fun of me, he obviously said it as a joke and laughed when I shrugged and turned around as if I was leaving but........

    he hurt my feelings LOL...

TL;DR My car had trouble running, I thought my gas pump wasn't working well so I forced the car to run until I got to the garage, when actually the timing belt slipped and I probably damaged it by forcing it to run when the motor's timing was way off.. and now I don't have a car for X days.. xD

My main concern is that I drove the car when it's timing was screwed! :P I'll get to work for sure tommorow, but I'm not going anywhere tonight and that's for sure xD, so between crying like a baby for the return of my civic and assassinating people in skyrim.. I'll come on cain's lair!

YOu're lucky you didn't do major damage to the engine like throw a rod or something

I wouldn't say I'm lucky, I have yet to hear about it.. maybe I did some serious damage.. maybe I just shortened it's lifespan a bit! =P

If it is an interference engine, you are probably going back to the old engine, otherwise, shouldn't be a big deal.

Exactly... Some motors if a timing belt fails/slips the piston will rise and smash into the little valves that are unfortunately sticking out. These are known as interference engines.

that's a shame really, I was hoping everything would be alright in the end, I'll update the thread once I hear from my mecanic, so far this swap has disappointed far too much haha!

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
