    Random bits o'gear for photographers

Hey all. I know there are some photographers out there. I recently picked up a few small bits for my setup. One is a remote hotshoe for the flash on a 10' coiled cable and a omni bounce also for the flash. Thirdly I picked up a remote shutter release. Lastly I was eating AA batteries for my flash. So I picked up 8 AA amazon basics rechargeable NiMH batteries and a charger. I think all of that cost me like 50 bucks. I'm curious what other interesting bits folks have picked up that are basically negligible cost. The coolest thing is the remote hotshoe. I basically mount it on my monopod and the effect it gives objects is very striking as opposed to a straight on flash.

I bought a grey card for a few bucks off BH. Great for accurate white balance. Other more spendy options (but super convenient) is a cool lens cap:

Are you using a DSLR or P+S? I use a Canon XTi (wow dated)... have a few filters (not cheap though), two lens hoods, bought an external flash, and other misc cleaning supplies. I've got a tripod but it's a full sized one.

I've got a Rebel t1i. I've got an assortment of lenses including one L series 70-200 MM 2.8, a 50 prime that steps down to 1.8 and a kit lens from a 40D. A selection of filters circular polarizer and neutral density and of course UV. The L glass came with a hood and I have another for my walk around lens. I've got an external flash Canon EX430II and a carbon fiber monopod and a grey card.

I'm just looking for interesting things that are cheap to play with.
