This is great news. I too used to commute an hour one way and an hour back. I'm now 5 minutes from work :-), with no traffic...

I have lived one mile from my store for 22 years.

I think the worst I have ever had to deal with was a 77 mile one way commute with really bad rush hour traffic. The mornings were OK because I started at 6 am but the drive home once took me 5 hours on a friday.

Sweet gig mapes. I love short commutes. WAIT WHAT?! A foosball table? I thought only the company I worked for was cool enough to have one. This means wars. I am ordering an air hockey table STAT!

When we lived in Houston my wife's commute was less than 20 miles and took her two and a half hours each way.

My wife and I seemed to switch commutes. When living in Greenbelt she worked at the University of Maryland and was 4 miles away, while I was more than 20. Now living in Bowie, she's an hour away up in Columbia and I'm 10 minutes away from my office. And this is in the DC region, home of the worst traffic in the U.S. (when LA doesn't hold the title).

Wait where is NY/NJ in commute times. I know we got to be up there in traffic jams.

You're 5th. The difference is your transit system is better than most. DC has a great Metro system too but it's not as extensive and doesn't serve all of the largest population concentrations.

Chicago, LA, and Houston are higher than NYC region in the latest study--Texas Transportation Institute 2011 Urban Mobility Report.

Don't tell people up here the transit is good.. they might bite your head off.
It has taken about 15-20 years to get a new subway line started. It will be done in 8 years.

                      Of course I hate NYC.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
