In 2 weeks me and some buddies will be going up to Boston for the Friday and Saturday of St. Patty's day weekend for my bachelor's party. I don't like gambling and we all wanted to go to a city none of us have ever been to (besides driving through it). Even though most of our time will be spent out, we will need to warm up in the hotel room.
I am wondering if any of you live in Massachusetts, and if so, can you comment on beer prices. In PA you have to for the most part get it from a distributor by the case. If you find a place to get singles or six packs, they cost as much as they would from a bar - $10 - $15 for a six pack of lower priced craft beer like Sam Adams or Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Then it goes up from there. So we are wondering if we should get beer in PA and bring it in, or get it in Mass. If this is one of those wonderful states where beer is sold mostly by the six pack and its not much more than the case-price equivalent, we would love to get six-packs for the variety.
Also, what about wine & spirit prices? I have noticed that the benefit of the state monopoly on sales of these beverages is lower prices than states like New Jersey, but other states like Delaware seem to still beat us out. Any thoughts?
We will also be driving through Connecticut. Can anyone from that state confirm that passengers in a moving vehicle can consume from open alcoholic beverages? Everything I have found on the internet has said that Connecticut is one of the few states that allow everyone but the driver to consume in the car, but you know how the internet can be. I haven't had a beer in a moving vehicle since I was on the German Autobahn, and it would be a bit of a novelty to do again (we of course have a designated driver).
