What is Winter-een-mas?

Winter-een-mas is a holiday of sorts. More specifically, it is a celebration of video games and the people that play them. Video games allow us to do things, go places, see stuff, that we couldn't do in real life. They can be an escape from reality, a release after a long day, a fun activity with friends, or just an enjoyable way to pass time. They give us a lot of entertainment. So why shouldn't they be celebrated?

When exactly is Winter-een-mas?

Winter-een-mas lasts for a whole week, which is always the very last week in January, the 25th through the 31st. The entire month of January constitutes the Winter-een-mas season, very similar to the "christmas season", where people begin to gear up for the holiday, and get into the spirit of things.

I assume the the Wintereemas season starts off with people getting a bunch of PC related crap for the holidays and wanting to play them? Add to that people living in cold climates are usually indoors more than outdoors due to the farking cold winters, we need something to do.

I say we petition a bunch of gaming hardware companies to have Wintereemas sales of the 70% off variety.

Sales are a good idea.

Otherwise, this sounds like pretty much every other day of the calendar year for folks like us, who are somewhat lacking in real lives and fear that bright glowing ball of fire that sometimes hangs out in the sky.

It is a time to truly devote to what we all love, video games. I was reading through the forums and someone had a really cool idea. They were going to play a system a day starting with the NES on the first day and working up the ages. Plus people host parties and do special things on online games like special servers or games just for Wintereenmas. Its a good way to meet other people that simply love gaming.

I think I'll do some hardcore gaming in the spirit of Wintereenmas. I haven't really celebrated it the last two years, but I think I just might this year
