      Good video. Brazil did something like this as well. Though it might have been 20 yrs ago on a smaller scale.

        New cities from scratch, or ghost towns?

        In terms of new planned cities they built Brasilia starting in the 50s, and that became their capital. India built Chandigarh in the 50s also. Nobody builds as many as China though.

                Wow very interesting video.
                I remember for the past several years as gas prices have gone through the stratosphere, that among the many reasons given, "Growth" in China was on the top of the list. Primarily they would blame the rising cost of Diesel on China due to all the Diesel powered tractors and such doing all the building thus causing higher demand for diesel.
                If this was indeed the case, look what they all have to show for it. Serves them right.
