So I just found out that a pickle ....

.... is actually a cucumber that's been in water and salt (brine) for a long time.

Did anybody else not know this ??? Nobody else in the office was this clueless, so I am now officially the sheltered 'pickle tree' guy ...

Somebody fess up and join my pickle ignorance club !!

You've never have a sweet pickle until you had homemade pickles.

Wow, you've had some of Bar's grandma's pickles? Small world

And yep, I knew a pickle was a cucumber. hehe. Sorry, everyone who knows is not allowed to tell those who don't know...its the pickle conspiracy. They are making a movie out of it.

It was the summer of 1979 or so that I made this same discovery, WT!! Pickles were being made at home (by my DAD, no less), and the old geezer was just using little cucumbers from the garden. It was a defining moment... at the time.

Pfffft. :P - Next you'll be telling us that Prunes are just dried Plums or some such nonsense.

What did I think it was ?? Wellll, it was a pickle, wasn't it ?? I mean, I knew the grapes/raisins thing (shaddup Darth, you didn't know either).

Funny thing is, I'm not fond of cucumbers (maybe burpless), but I love pickles !! They don't taste salty, either. Sorry, I am (or at least I was) rather clueless and sheltered to some of the worlds lesser known facts.

Pickle lovers who know them as pickles and not wet, salty cucumbers - unite !!

oddly enough i did, and have for years. i didn't help my team make it to the quizbowl state championships for nothing...

All that useless knowledge i actually sought out as a kid has its uses from time to time.

FYI -- you know the Brine is a Bacteria laden solution that causes the "pickleing" right? or ever heard of a pickleing process? or just being pickled pink that you now know this?

Ohh! I love making home made bread. Yesterday I made different kinds of breads that I took to the office so I shared some with my co-workers. I made black olives bread, orion bread, raisens and nuts bread and sunflower seed bread.
