Kids lose the darndest things !!!

I was sitting there installing software in the lab at school and I looked down on the floor in the corner of the room, last PC in that row and saw this lil black box ... maybe the size of a jewelry box. I thought .. WTH, someone left this lil cardboard box lying there.

So I put my foot on it to slip it out from under the desk that was over it and immediately realized it was not cardboard !! I saw the name on the back ... ZUNE ... and thought .. holy crap ... some kid lost their ZUNE !!

I powered it up and toyed around, looking for ID, and this kid had pt his pic proudly as the background, so it was easy to ID him as a football player, even down to the number, so I took iy to the office.

The secretary called his Mom (we only had a half day of school today .. in-service training) and explained where it was found and by whom, and then told me the kid had lost it Wednesday and the office had told him it was probably stolen. He is going to be one very relieved kid when Mom passes along the news. I'm sure he didn't buy it, but at least I found it first, rather than another student.

Cool lil toy ... I hardly have a use for it, but ... geez, kids have some sweet gadgets these days. When I was a kid, I had Army men and Tinker Toys. My lucky cousin had penny sticks, so we'd have these military skirmishes and demolish tanks and bunkers with his 'shaped charges' .. haha, those were the days !!! Now its all electronics ....

And this is why kids should not have expensive items. Especially ones that leave their house. They just don't understand the value item.

Good that he got it back though.

          Here's what he lost:

I immediately thought it was a black Ipod, if there is such a thing, until I got close enough to read the ZUNE on the back.

I love my Zune. I even have an FM transmitter so I can listen to it in my truck.

I got the Halo edition one when it first came out so with tax and added warrenty it was $300. I need to find a good video converter since I have a bunch of movies that are .avi but Zune doesnt support that file type so I need to convert it to .wmv. I have one that does but it loses audio quality. Other then that I love it, I even have a cable so I can connect it directly to a tv and can watch the movie on my Zune right on a tv.

+1. Except I like mine with pictures in 'em. Naw, there are some good novels out there.

That was a very noble act, WT. Nowadays, people will try to snatch those devices off of you. Heck, most wouldn't even think twice about running off with it when it was on the floor like that.
