    Glock/pistol Owners... need some advice

Been debating for the past year about what pistol I want and with recent events, figured I needed to make a move soon. After my experiences with pistols while in the military and even more so while I was in Afghanistan, not to mention its quite popular with police (at least where I live) and the added fact that I am working my way into law enforcement... Put it plain, I like the Glock Family of sidearms.

I have been eyeballing the Glock 21 (.45) and the Glock 21/SF (Short frame). Would like to stay with the .45... my favorite round. Been staying away from the idea of the .45 GAP. Seen a lot of complaints about trying to pick-up the ammo for it.

    My Q.
The reason I have been looking at the SF is because they say it is good for people with smaller hands. Aka me... lol I haven't been able to get my hands on one so I have been considering ordering one cause I feel it will be a better fit knowing my luck with sidearms. Just curious if the SF is a big difference for people's hands or not. I haven't seen any real complaints but I know there is a few of you who might have more experience on this subject then me.

And any advice on Gen3 / 4 would be awesome. I liked some of the ideas of the Gen 4 but I have been debating if its worth the extra money.

Not planning buying anything for a little while yet so, trying to get as much knowledge about everything before I spend the money.

Do not buy a gun with out at least holding it. The weight, balance and overall feel are to important to leave to chance. Ask if you order can you return or exchange it if you are not happy with it. I say ask because some companies will not let you return special order items.
I have a Glock 23C. The 23 is .40 Cal and the C model is ported. Some people will tell you not to buy a ported model if you shoot in low light conditions. I have and it is not a problem at all. It does not blind you. In fact shooting a revolver in low light conditions is worse.
I like the 23 because it is slightly smaller but still full size. It is easy to carry concealed comfortably. It is great for those with smaller hands. It is not a baby Glock though. It is still a full size pistol.
The Glocks are easy to disassemble quickly and reassemble. I have also modified mine for a 2 1/2 lb trigger pull and I have the larger capacity magazines.
Also the velocity of .40 Cal ammunition is greater than the .45 Cal.
Performance wise there isn't any difference between gen 3 and Gen 4 Glocks. The Gen 4's have some custom add ons like different size grips.
I love mine. It is accurate, tough as nails and can take abuse and still shoot when others jam.

Where do you put the Bayonet?

I've had my hands on the G21 just not the short frame. I have heard good things about the .40 as well. Just been hung up on that .45

I only shot with two different glocks as I am pretty new to guns. The first was a compact Glock 17 Gen 3 and the second, which I now own, is the Glock 17 Gen 4. I don't think I need to go up a caliber. I like 9mm, it's very plain and simple. It also has the tiniest amount of recoil. I'm a big guy though, so recoil was never an issue. I'm proud of my 234 out of 250 score in the CHL test. I'm still waiting for the state to run their background check on me so I can get my official license. I carry the gun in the car right now.

It took about 10 minutes to get a gun. Bought it off Academy. And I'm one of the few people interested enough to actually take a class in gun safety and then take a 10 hour CHL class. I am very responsible. I only aim it at my friends when it's loaded.

Thank you for taking the class. Whats the CHL class?
Are you really that worried that you need to carry the guy in Houston?

CHL is Concealed Handgun License. I am not really that worried about being in Houston, I just like having the extra protection and confidence. Or as my female friend told me, stop trying to compensate for your tiny penis. I couldn't argue with her

Bar, I have a CZ 75B in .40S&W and I know what you mean about the grip. I'm just barely ok with the grip with the capacity (12rds). Have you looked at the H&K models. Those are some slick weapons. LIttle more expensive but good stuff. I believe SF's uses those.

But Glocks are really reliable from what I hear. Can take a lot of abuse and still fire.

On the subject of Phantom carrying a pistol in Houston. He's just being coy about it. I dont know where exactly he lives there, but there are a lot of places you dont want to venture at night.

Fact is, I put my pistol in my back when ever I just venture outside to the garden. My garden is a long way from my house and somebody could drive up and be between me an my house. I dont like that so I just carry my pistol with me when I'm outside or on the tractor. You never know when some idiot with bad intentions is gonna venture up in your driveway. We live out in the country so waitin on the county sheriff to show up could be half a day.

Goes in my truck everywhere I go to.

But like Apache said, check it out and get a feel for it. Some gun stores will let you fire it before the purchase.

General Question and not asking to stir the pot. Have you ever had anyone come up to you while you were out of the house and felt or pulled the gun on them?

Houston does have a lot of dangerous areas. I lived there and my wife grew up in Houston. One time a gang of Colombians went to a Houston Mall Zales Store. They entered and shot up the store with Uzis then grabbed what they wanted and fled. they were not caught.
In Georgia the license is called a Carry Concealed. I have one and mine goes most places with me.

I've looked at H&K pistols before, only ever hand my hands on one and I didn't care for the way it felt, I think it was a .40 been a little while since. Kinda disappointing because I'm very pro German/Belgian companies for weapons. Loved H&K rifles... but I can't judge them all over one. Just not a lot of them floating around where I live. Seen a few CZ weapons in stores in the past but they just never drew my attention. But I usually get side-tracked to the 1911's Springfield Armory is making some nice customs. One of my friends who deployed with the 82nd got a custom 82nd 1911... cost him 4g but its pretty slick. Wish the 10th Mountain would have offered something like that when I was still in.

I have shot multiple Berettas and I hate them with a passion, I would rather walk around with a plastic bat. Beretta is part of the reason that I hate the 9mm round. I have seen a dude get shot with one and it did absolutely nothing to stop him. Granted, placement is everything but a gut shot and you keep coming... yea, nty.

In PA it is just concealed carry permit. I filed for mine about a week ago and should have it about the first week of January. PA is a "shall issue" state, so unless you're a convicted felon or have mental health issues in your records when they do a check then they have to issue. With me, I have a perfect criminal and military record.
