If they could figure out how to do this, the applications would be huge.

Yea for stem cells! they have been talking about that alot here, with every organ transplant doig a bone marrow transplant.

if she's young enough though and recpetive enough, it would make sense...

Heard about this on the radio.....simply amazing

My guess is this will change people's view of stem cell research quite a bit. Especially since these were liver stem cells, instead of the dead baby kind. Though, as Darth mentioned, her age might have had something to do with it as well.

I watch a lot of History Channel and Discovery Channel, and stuff like this pops up on there all the time. On the subject of stem cells, I saw a show about 2007 and how they did manage to create stem cells from skin cells that were very similar to embryonic stem cells. I think stem cell research isn't all that bad anyway, but this could be a loophole for the scientific community to jump through.

On a related note, some newer stuff on organ transplants: when they transplanted kidneys and bone marrow (from the kidney donor) at the same time, 3 out of 4 patients didn't need to take anti-rejection drugs as of 5 years post transplant!!! Amazing stuff.

They can also get stem cells from umbilical cords, bone marrow from your hip, etc.etc. Not all stem cells from from embryos or fetus'. Now if only more research would be funded for it.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
