The average age of these offenders is 11-19. So as you can see the majority don't get sent down. I have no problem what so ever with sending 11 year old idiots to prison.
Prisons cost money. Money means taxes. Taxes mean lost votes.

There was a political movement in the UK that advocated higher taxes for things such as this (the old labour party), and it never got elected after 1979.

For how much money this government is raking in they don't need to raises taxes to afford it.

Problem is once you start locking up kids you open up the field for nutty jobs-worth law enforcers to start being stupid with kids which amounts to child abuse in itself. Remember being 13... ever slap a girls behind in school?

        http://abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/Story?id=3406214

Those kids got 5 days in prison for it.

and wanna know what i got for slappin a girls behind? a whoopin of the year from my dad, taken over to her house so I could apologize to her father, mother, brothers and her in person, then a pretty good thumpin from her big brother the next day in school (which was well deserved). Since parents no longer do what my dad did, jail for 4th degree criminal sexual conduct sounds fair

And that's how it should be. But there are a lot of bad parents out there these days that show no discipline at all. The scary thought is what these current kids are going to be like as parents. Hell, most of them become parent before 16.

You could love your children UNCONDITIONALLY but fear will always win out over love.

              These kids have NO FEAR.

I would like to think my children fear me alot more then society.
They know what's acceptable and whats not IN MY EYES !!

My children all know they are loved unconditionally BUT answer to ME first !!!

My children, My responsibility, My rules, MY PUNISHMENT
which will be FAR WORSE the yours

              FEAR / LOVE
              its a fine line

I know I know its sounds soooooo harsh, its really not.

It will be interesting to see if they can get a jury to convict the father. I'd vote Not Guilty and recommend he be given a medal.
                What... Are you INSANE?

The man raped the boy with a metal rod. That's WRONG. The boy was 18 - therefor a legal adult, he WAS going to be locked up.

oh dont worry, he still will be and as for the father? play the mental anguish of a heartbroken father card, couple years probation, maybe some jail.

I know if I ever get picked up by the police and could be locked up but they decide not to I will want them to lock me up. Those bars are nice barriers to keep my dad back a bit. He is a State Trooper here in NY so if I get busted for something, he will know, and jail would probably be better. Also its not that he would be abusive or anything like that that a lot of people always think, he is just old fashioned and I would definitely be be punished even though in 20.

Yeah...after he caught the boy raping his 8 year old daughter. I really don't see a problem with what the father did. The boy's cellmates are going to have fun with him too, they just love child molesters in prison.
