They were DDOS'd. A hacker group of DERP TROLLIN or w/e took down several main industries' servers. EA, Battle.net, League of Legends, Dota 2, Some penguin named one and several others. They were targeting games that a certain streamer(PhantomL0rd) on Twitch was playing and DDOS'd the servers. But that's not where it ended. They took it to a whole nother level. Police calls were made about a "hostage situation" at his place of residence. They came to his house, handcuffed and detained him for questioning while they searched his house, whom his family was all home. Tough break for the guy b/c on top of all of this, he had been up for almost 24 hours prior to this happening. Ironically, he named his stream title "Chill Day".
On a positive note, he broke the record in views on Twitch.tv of like 140k viewers and he made money with ads and subscribers at $5 a sub and w/e he makes off ads.
For more of the story, you can view his youtube video with his reaction to the whole thing. It is a hour or so long and a few parts need to be fast forwarded due to him not being present b/c of more questioning by the police.
