I've not had a very good start to 2014, but hey, at least we got some pretty fireworks.

Apparently this was the worlds first multi-sensory firework display.

In what is being billed as the "world's first multi-sensory fireworks display", there are to be clouds of apple, cherry and strawberry mist, peach snow, plus thousands of big bubbles filled with Seville orange-flavoured smoke and 40,000 grams of edible banana confetti.
And you know your Finale is going well when it starts to drown out the music lol.

I still can't believe we allow people to be so close to the display in this country. People must be deaf by the end of it, especially this years.

I saw parts of that on a news show. Quite awesome. I'm surprised the ferris wheel didn't get damaged from the sheer amount of pyrotechics eminating from it.

I was just telling the wife that the U.S. needs to get off our behinds and pick a place like San Francisco harbor to do a balls to the wall show to top London, Dubai, and Sydney. This came after seeing NYC had fireworks over Central Park, the Hudson, and Times Square.

So much for American Exceptionalism. It's bad enough that our children are in the high 20s and low 30s in worldwide testing, but we can't even get a world-class show of blowing things up anymore.

You should watch it all if you haven't already.

I still think Liberty Island would be a great place to do it from. I'm guessing there would be plenty of room at the waterfront for viewing.

Difficult angles and a fair distance from most shoreline locations. Battery Park would be the best location to view but I'm not sure how many people it could hold in the right cone of vision. The middle of San Francisco Harbor is basically surrounded by land, almost like Manhattan is surrounded by water. We don't have a good icon like Sydney Bridge or The Eye in the heart of most cities (St. Louis maybe), so we don't need to struggle to find something iconic as the source. We have maybe 10-12 locations that are really good for a nice show, but much fewer for one of these epic shows with 2 million people.

You preferably need it in the capital too. Nowhere in Washington of any use?

*pictures the Washington monument all lit up* lol.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
