Unreal Tournament FAQ
What is it?
A new chapter in the Unreal Tournament franchise: fast paced fps with a sci-fi setting. Translocators, shock rifles, flak cannons, insta-gib, Deck 16, etc.
The game will be free to play. Will include a “community market” where people can upload (and possibly sell) their creations, ranging from hats, skins and mutators to new maps, game modes and even total conversions. The game is being developed in Unreal Engine 4, which has recently become free.
Announced on the 8th of May, 2014.

Who is developing it?
A small team at Epic Games, in collaboration with the community. Epic Games has been doing weekly livestreams, over at twitch, with project updates. More information here: http://www.unrealtournament.com/blog/
Game modes?
So far, DM, TDM, CTF and Duel modes are in. Assault, VCTF and Onslaught have been mentioned for future updates, though aren't actively being developed by Epic Games right now.

When will I be able to play?
You can already play the game! The game is currently in pre-alpha, so most everything in-game is subject to change, placeholder and/or work in progress. Just keep that in mind:

Quote from Joe Wilcox on the topic of VCTF & Onslaught:
“...While both game types are planned in the distant future, they are not on anyone's radar here.
Yes, we are focused on the core game. And really we are asking that people who want to directly contribute to the current game focus on the core game.
But that doesn't stop someone in the community from saying "hell yea, VCTF is a blast" and starting to work on it as an external project.”
