My guess? Supply and demand. There is far more demand for military calibers, so suppliers are switching over to produce more of that, and less of the civie stuff. Even the police are running low in most parts of the country.

Sounds like I should stock up now :P Not that I really fire my rifle enough to make a huge stockpile a need.

Unless of course someone forsee's a zombie invasion in the near future.

Its cheaper to shoot a murderer then it is to keep him in jail for 30 years work free and then waste money on electricity to kill him.

Yep! Up the price of ammo and then legalize marijuana, eh?

?Gun control? We need bullet control! I think every bullet should cost 5,000 dollars. Because if a bullet cost five thousand dollar, we wouldn't have any innocent bystander .?

Yep, that is right. Probably cheaper to kill everyone who commits a crime with a single bullet over putting them in a prison....not sure I get the point of your post...?

Seeing as this is about the price of ammo, are you against the price hike in ammo because its already cheaper to kill someone with a bullet than putting him in jail? Or are you ok with hiking the price of ammo as long as it remains cheaper to shoot a murderer over keeping him in jail?

Ammo prices going up affects recreational shooters and hunters. It won't make a dent in gun crime, as the people (and I use the term loosely) committing those crimes do not use large amounts of ammunition, and what they do use is usually stolen.

This is (another) good reason to get out of Iraq, though. The military is buying up all the ammunition it can, and this affects even calibers they don't use, as plants shift the majority of their production to military ammunition, resulting in a shortage of non-military ammunition.

I?m sure crime guns are mostly stolen, but ammo too? Interesting. I would of thought that ammo is much easier to get your hands on that the gun. But I don?t live down there, nor do I hunt, so I don?t really know.

                    EDIT
I have no real issues with recreational hunting. I see no point in just shooting to shoot though. We have killed off most of the natural predators to the prey, and to help control the population, controlled recreational hunting is fine. Use the meat, etc etc. Same as clubbing seals.

But shooting for recreation is akin (to me) to driving an SUV. Not something that is necessary, something that can be a danger to others, so if you want to partake, then you pay a higher fee for it.

Meh, just my Canadian bacon opinion.

Yeah, honestly, my assumption would have been that most ammunition is bought. Why hastle over $30 or $40 where you could possibly get busted over something idiotic, well, idiotic compared to what crimes they're probably committing with said ammo.

When you buy a stolen gun you usually buy ammo from the same guy...or you just use whatever's already in the gun. Most criminals don't fire a weapon unless it's pointing at someone, so they don't need much ammunition. This is why so many of them miss (that and the stupid "holding the "gat" sideways" thing) ...unfortunately, it's also why innocent bystanders get shot in drive-bys.

Maybe we should have free range time for gang members, after all, they only shoot at each other 99% of the time.

Anyways, ammo is going up because of supply and demand, there aren't any new fees associated with it. Yet.

I hear they are currently lobbying to pass a bill that will require ALL gang members be required to take and pass a firearms preparedness program so that they do not accidentally kill innocent bystanders while on rival turf or protecting their own.

This class will also teach them how to aim the gun with the fixed sights instead of pointing their finger down the side of the gun and using their index finger as an aiming device while tilting the gun sideways.

All gang members who have taken the course will be required to be licensed in the form of a tattoo stating that they have passed the course.

Doing this will prevent future rising prices of ammunition due to missed shots, as well as minimize hospital bills for the innocent injured or killed.

On the downside to this new requirement, this will unfortunately drive up the pricing of personal body armor and black market firearms to make up for the taxes spent on the course.

                              Just kidding.

(Yo homes, i want to get in to the snyper course maing)
