I used to really respect this guy, but after a year that brought us PC games like Bioshock, Burning Crusade, TF2 and Portal, he just can't admit Epic really fumbled UT3. Trying to dis the PC instead of admitting Epic is just chasing bigger bucks through console audiences is a slap in the face to his and Epic's fans, which until Gears a year ago were ALL PC PLAYERS.

This came up on the Omnipotents forums too. And I'll say here what I said there - WoW is more popular than any other game right now and is a PC exclusive. Call of Duty 4 has over 50000 online players to UT3s 900 or so. There is no positive way you can look at that, other than to say "its not our fault, PC is fail anyway".

Sour grapes Cliffy... if you wanted UT3 to do well you dont just go onto console - you make a decent game!

yeah, kinda lame to blame the PC market when your game fails, when other such games have been a success.

Late 2007 saw a huge wave (possibly too huge?) of successful PC games hit the market. can't blame the wave when you fall of your surf board

Well, he's right about one thing...the only games keeping the PC market alive right now are The Sims and World of Warcraft. Those two games and their expansions make up 80% of the top ten PC sellers.

What he should've admitted, though, is that if UT3 had not sucked, and had been a PC exclusive, it would've had a big impact in renewing the PC gaming market. Epic bears a large share of responsibility for the current state of PC gaming.
