Idiotic. How many FPS games on the PC run on some variation of the Unreal engine? This totally sucks, and it will go a good way toward crippling the PC market.

PC gaming is almost purely afterthought now. I remember when EB was about 90% pc gaming and now it's got a little stand in the middle of the store. The entry threshhold is just so much lower for consoles.

Yep. One of the EB's in town doesn't even sell PC games anymore, except old ones that they're just trying to get out of the store.

PC gaming is on its last legs (outside of MMOs and The Sims).

Call of Duty 4 sold over 7 million copies in 2007, but only 383,000 were for the PC. It's pretty obvious which way developers are going to go.

If you read the original article, it does state that a PC version is possible. However, that doesn't lessen the fact that EPIC is now only interested in consoles. All that tripe the EPIC guys were spewing prior to release prior to UT3 was just to placate the masses of die-hard PC UT fans till they could cash out on the PC market all-together.

There are two reasons I wouldn't mind seeing PC gaming fade away.

1. Spending $1-2K every couple of years to build a decent rig in order to play the same FPS/RTS with slightly better graphics gets old.

2. When it finally dies, the more mature (for the most part) PC gamers will gravitate to consoles, thereby helping to bring the overall maturity level of console gamers up. Although in reality, it'd probably be akin to spitting in the ocean.

Ugh, I can't stand consoles. I can't play on the controllers for a damn. If I can't use mouse and keyboard, I won't play an FPS. I played Halo 3 with my friend for a while but I always did horribly. I tried playing his CoD4 on his 360 and had a ratio of like 3 kills to 24 deaths or something like that, where I now break even on the PC.

And as far as games like Sins of a Solar Empire, Starcraft, Diablo, there's no way I'd play games like that on a console. Consoles are entirely too limited in my view. Ok, sports games I like better. Mario and some things like that, but I haven't owned a console since my N64 from back in like middle school. I wouldn't buy a console to play games anymore, I just wouldn't game any longer.

If the PC gaming market does crap out, I'll move to consoles. I believe I saw some mouse/keyboard like adapter for a PS2 one year, so you could play FPS games like on a PC.

I know the PS3 supports mouse/keyboard, but I'm not sure which (if any) games do.

Besides after the way Epic lied about UT3 I don't ever want one of their products again...
