That depends on how mobile you'll be. If you're not very mobile, then hope you're in downtown.

    Downtown San Diego

The beach, though its slated to be in the 60's all week, so it's doubtful there will be much in the way of "scenery"
The Downtown Gas Lamp District, the Waterfront, and the Decommissioned Aircraft Carrier you can explore.
The San Diego Zoo (oooh World Famous)
There's Petco Park (a brand new stadium) where you can go watch the Astros beat up on the Padres (you'll miss the Dodgers beating up on the Padres by a day )

    Greater SD Area
Coronado Beach and the World Famous Hotel Del Coronado.
Sea World and the Wild Animal Park (if you can travel a bit).
There's the lovely smog and traffic that Southern California is known for as well, which you should be able to find just about anywhere you look

I'm sure there's a lot more I'm missing, but since I don't live in SD, I guess that's to be expected. Anyone from down south care to add/elaborate?

VISIT ME! lol...I'll buy ya a beer. Some places to check out for nightlife are Downtown in the Gas Lamp District and Pacific Beach. Ya gotta visit Dave N Busters if you have friends with you. If you don't know what they are...it's pretty much an adult video arcade WITH A BAR! More places would be the Zoo and Wild Animal Park and Seaworld. While your at the Zoo, you can visit the neighboring Balboa park where museums and restaurants. Coronado is great to visit for the beach and Hotel Del and there are alot of little restaurants there and bike rentals in case you want to ride around the island, looking at homes that you can never afford unless your CAIN...lol. Ummm...You can see other tourist attractions that you will see fliers for in any hotel you stay at. Oh yeah...you can also visit me. Just message me whenever and I'll give ya my number to reach me at. Hope you have fun here in our beautiful city, despite the smog carbon mentions which isn't as bad as he makes it out to be. TTYL!

do you like sea food? if you do, eat at Anthony's at least once while you're there. they have the best clam chowder I've had on the west coast. all the other menu items are great too!

              Welcome to the left coast.

San Diego Zoo is one of my favorite outdoor zoos.
Sea World is meh, only because Orlando is better.

              Golfing is good there too.

              Head north and do:

              Universal Studios
              Santa Monica Pier
              Huntington Beach
              Hollywood

If you go to Huntington Beach drive over to Seal Beach (next door) and eat at Walt's Wharf. The Szechwan Calamari is out of this world.

Where do you put the Bayonet?

                  I second that!

Sorry I'm not much help, I'm a landmark and environment traveler. I must be in the environment to remember what is good and what is meh.

I only had a week there, and it was a working navy week so i didnt get to do much. I do recommend at least visiting Tijiuana to at least say you've visited mexico or get a giant hat. And yes, there's a Hard Rock there if you're a collector.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
