Sure, there are the deadbeats, the criminals, the hooligans and what not, but everyone always tends to paint a bleak picture of all pot users. And its really not the case.

I know very successful people that smoke pot regularly. I also know complete losers that do it. While I haven't touched it in over 15 years now (just makes me sleepy), it's not any worse than alcohol. Both of them are fine in moderation, and both of them lead to health problems and stupidity when overused. People with addictive personalities are going to screw themselves up whether they use drugs, alcohol, or World of Warcraft.

Legalizing marijuana and then coming down hard (i.e. execution) on dealers of hard drugs like cocaine and heroin would free up a lot of space in our prisons.

One reason pot is so popular is that it is much easier for underage kids to buy marijuana than it is for them to buy a beer.

I just get annoyed at the constant stereotypes that pot smokers are all deadbeats and such. Some are, but many are not. I prefer to have a more realistic and honest approach than the old scare / fear tactics of you will die if you smoke pot.

That's illogical. The point of legalizing marijuana isn't to make you smoke it. It's so the people that want to can.

And do so in a much safer way. There are so many people out there who lace their pot with very dangerous things. Similar to cocaine being laced with glass shards. Typically, with government control, things are usually safer (not sure thats the right word to use).

Oh oh, another "Let me defend pot smoking thread, and a billion reasons why it should be legal" thread.

And do so in a much safer way.
Safe enough so when your boss assigns you to take a random drug test, that it's undetectable in the results?

True, of course, the world could use more ditch diggers, too.

I just get annoyed at the constant stereotypes that pot smokers are all deadbeats and such.
Well, typically supervisors and bosses frown on that kind of thing. Why do you think employers have random drug tesetings?

Sometimes stereotypes are based off facts.

Yeah, and good, drug free, law abiding citizens like myself get laid off, while company fat cats smoke their joints AND snort coke off a hooker.

If pot were legal, why would you worry so much about having it detectable? It would be similar to drinking on the job.

And yes, stereotypes are almost always rooted in some sort of fact.

I don't follow this thought process.

bigtwinky makes the argument that it could be safer if marijuana was legalized.

You say, "Safe enough so when your boss assigns you to take a random drug test, that it's undetectable in the results? " ignoring the fact that the original comment was talking on contingency of legalization thus negating any testing.

After further clarification, you still ignore the premise of legalization which the whole argument was based on.

                        /pats Tony on the head.

You quote my text where I mention that if pot were legalized, things would be safer. But you would only part. And you make a statement about drug tests at work, where I reply that you wouldn't need random drug tests at work if it were legal.

                        You are making no sense.

Are you trying to be funny and just trolling a thread where a discussion is somewhat happening?

I don't know, I have to laugh at all the pot heads out there that want to legalize pot, that's what I get a kick out of.

What is it we are making safer anyways by legalizing it?

I am one of those conservative types, plus my dad and grand father was in law enforcement, so my view might be slightly biased.

You're making it safer for the average person who wants to smoke it. Right now you get other things laced in to it when you buy it off the street or from disreputable people. You legalize it and all of a sudden you have government inspectors and regulations that you have to follow. I don't see an issue with legalizing it. Hell, you get pulled over high, you get a DUI like driving drunk. You lose your liscence. You do something dumb at work and you're high, or show up high and do subpar work or just show up high, you're terminated for doing it on the job, like getting drunk on the job. It would probably basically follow the laws already in place for consumption of alcohol. The major problem I can see is that you can easily get a second-hand high of marijuana since there's smoke in the air that you would inhale, that you don't get from alcohol.

I'm sure second hand tobacco smoke is worse.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
