If you could shrink the world down to 100 people ...

... keeping the same ratios - there would be:
    1. 51 females, 49 males
    2. 57 Asians, 21 Europeans, 14 from the Americas and 8 Africans
    3. 70 nonwhite, 30 whites
    4. 70 Non-Christian, 30 Christians
    5. 50% of the wealth would be in the hands of 6 people - all in the US
    6. 80 living in substandard housing
    7. 70 who were illiterate
    8. 50 suffering from malnutrition
    9. 1 person near death, another near birth
    10. 1 with a college education
    11. Not one who owned a computer

Quite an eye opening list, and painfully accurate as well. We can give thanks each day that we live as comfortably as we do.
Oh if a man tried to take his time on Earth and prove before he died what one man's life could be worth, well I wonder what would happen to this world ? - Harry Chapin

As long as one of them is the beer man we are ok... The population will start to grow after a few nights.

We had to apply this to our county as part of some lame-ass "Cultural Change Initiative" that's been going on at work. Let me tell you, if you guys want an easy way to earn a million or so bucks of tax payer money, start a company to bring cultural change to government agencies. After 3+ years we're still giving them money.

Anyway, the same exercise has been done for just the U.S., but I don't remember the exact numbers.

That's an interesting way to put things into perspective.

Laugh now, but you won't be laughing when our economy collapses and we have to invade nearby countries for beer. Canadian beer > Mexican beer. You're goin' down, buddy.

Hmmm, now we'll have to analyze this scientifically. Whom de we invade, Mexico or Canada?

Canada has better beer. Mexico has tequila. Personally, I function a lot better with beer in me than I do tequila, plus tequila makes for mean drunks.
                      Point: Canada

In Canada you can drink the tap water. In Mexico this will give you Montezuma's Revenge.
                      Point: Canada

Mexican food! Are there any ethnic Canadian foods worth mentioning, other than round bacon? I didn't think so.
                      Point: Mexico

Mexico has beaches and bikinis. Canada has snow and moose.
                      Point: Mexico

Mexico has lots of revolutionaries with lots of guns. Canada has some of the best snipers in the world.
Point: Mexico (I'll take my chances with an AK-armed nutjob as opposed to a .50-armed sniper, thank you)

Mexico produced Salma Hayek. Canada produced Shania Twain, but also produced Celine Dion, which automatically lowers their score.
                      Point: Mexico

Canada has kicked out some pretty good musical acts over the years, like Rush. Again, however, they get points deducted for Celine Dion. Mexico has given us Carlos Santana and the awesomeness that is mariachi bands.
Point: Tie. Rush's awesomeness almost cancels out the Celine penalty, but not quite.

Well, it looks like we're invading Mexico. C'mon down and enjoy some Dos Equis on the beach, BigTwinky.

It means that less than 1% of the planet's population owns a computer.

Unfair! You deducted points for Celine Dion in 2 categories. If anything, deduct points in the music category, not the babe category. We would still lose 4-3, but at least it would be a true score.

But why not invade both countries? You guys have enough manpower to take us both down.

After seeing a couple of specials on Canadian snipers in Afghanistan, you guys are safe from me, irrelevant of points. Those guys are wicked.
