    Economic Incentive Check - Plans?

Assuming you're getting one of the guv'mint cheez $300-$600 "economic incentive" tax rebate checks, what are you planning to do with it? Pay bills, put in your gas tank, or buy something irresponsible and cool?

I was planning on getting a PS3, but that will have to wait as now mine is going to help with the downpayment on one of these:

I was going to buy one anyway, so tacking a little more on to the downpayment is just a bonus. This is a good example of how silly this "economic incentive" is, though, since I was going to buy a new car, but with the economy so bad I'm going to keep my old truck and add the bike. Even with the "rebate" I'll be putting less money into the economy than I would have. About 15K less.

You know, a PS3 doesn't run on what will soon be $4.00/gallon gas...

P.S. My own check is probably being put toward my credit card to help pay down just enough room to max the bloody thing out with my 2-week trip to Disney World with the wife in August-September. At least I paid the other card I still own off last month.

Yeah, but the gas mileage on my new ride certainly beats what my truck gets.

Disney's a wallet killer, you have my utmost sympathy.

WOW. I was in Disney around August/September, too. We stayed on Disney's property and had a blast. Still paying for it too.

Mine, IF I get one, will go to repay the money I borrowed to write a check to the IRS for my taxes.

I wish I was getting one. I originally was going to be independent even though I live with my dad but he put me as his dependent so no check for me.

                      It'll probably go towards gas.

Last time I checked, you can file as independent while your dad files with you as a dependent once, after that, you must always file as an independent and your dad can never claim you again. Of course, getting tax advice on a video game message board from an expatriate who hasn't lived in the United States for 3.5 years and hasn't had to deal with this tax law in thirteen years might not be the cleverest thing to do, so I would advise you to check other sources.

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
