I have a license to carry in Georgia and with it no waiting at all.
And yes it it includes concealed. but, this also means a background check by the GBI.

Actually the TEN day waiting period is not only for background checks, which are done the instant you apply for the gun, but it is originally called the "Cool Down" period. The reason for this is ...lets just say you got pissed off really bad at all your co-workers over at the post office. You hate those bastards so bad you want to go get a gun and kill them. The ten day period is hopefully enough (yeah right) of a time period so that your temper settles down and the situation diffuses itself. In all actuality, it is just enough time to get a few of your other co-workers involved and carry out a plot while making them pissed enough to do all the killing for you. Either way, you didn't have to purchase the gun after all (and the 10 day period worked), because you plotted it out just right where the ones you told were screwing each other's wives were the actual gun collectors. Fortunately for you, while you take the day off sick you go down to the pawn shop and tell them to cancel your firearms application, there is a bloody battle going on at work.

Mikes correct in CA for long guns the background check is instantaneous and happens when I go in to pay or put money down on the gun. The ten day wait is a cool down period....and at least it's ten calendar days. Note for handguns in CA there are more stringent checks.
