    I thought Katrina was bad...

Myanmar (Burma) is not going at all well...
A rising death toll in the hundreds of thousands, a government that will NOT help in letting relief aid in with their insane paranoia, and more and more problems arising.
Its getting so bad that even Time.com is asking for an invasion (?!?).

Boy do I feel sorry for the victims, I can only pray that the week of neglect does not exacerbate the situation.

Invading a country to provide food, water, and medical aid would be a challenge. We can't bomb them, so it would be mainly ground forces.. In any case, it would be a troubling issue at best. If it leads to no other option but invasion, then sure i'll go, but i'd like to see other measures taken first.

Quite honestly, I think some other "radical" measures should me taken.

Perhaps a mass air leaflet drop across the country to increase awareness of the world's commitment to help, and their government's negligence, then they would have no excuse but to comply or face possible consequences. Or(like mentioned in the article in Time), just start airdropping the supplies without express consent.

Could/would the junta even prevent cargo planes full of food from dropping them? Although finding places to safely drop them would be a challenge, why not? Would the victims really care about what flag is on the box the food is contained in? (Charity tends to be an ungratitous task anyway)

I mean really, the politics are killing the victims, forget the damned redtape.

P.S. Hey seiko, you're still in right? How about you formally send this up the chain of command for them to sit on? (LOL) You might get a promotion lmao.

If they have an Air Force, they could simply shoot them down. Doubt they would want to, or could, but it's still a possibility. We wouldn't put our pilots at risk until we have to.

Oh, and I don't think Brig. Gen. Jones would like it if I sent that on up the Chain. As a matter of fact, my NCOIC would stop it before it went any further. I would if it would do anything though. :P

They think you're not high enough rank to come up with ideas in the airforce too? Meh, go figure. Redtape and BS, it makes the world go 'round. You can quote me on that.

natural disaster is really terrible, especially when they happened in poor country. most of the country in asia, don't even get the warning like we have in US. there is a lot of home made of wood and junk steel in asia. so when a natural disaster come, they wiped it so clean. i just hope for the best from them.

The best thing the US can do is just air-drop supplies regardless of their co-operation.

Other than that, why are we spending money on people that are motivated to hate us? I'd rather it be spent on killing terrorists or applying funds to expand institutional mental illness treatment.

Treating mental illness would allow many homeless people to get off the street .

Just air dropping stuff won't help. It's a different case than Berlin. The country is rugged and without ground support or logistics a ton of stuff would be wasted.

I honestly don't think the majority of the country hates us actually. I think it's the repressive regime that has an issue with the US. To bad we sold em arms in the past DOH!

I don't remember them coming to our aid when Katrina hit ?

Americans go hungry every day... take care of our own first. I would rather see those supplies being sent to our troops or helping our wounded vets/familys of living and dead vets.
