I was also reading about prime lenses vs zoom lenses and how primes are less expensive than zoom, as there are less parts and such, but offer a much better optical quality. The draw back is that you have to move around to get angles, close ups and so on.

They are great for low light situations as they can let in alot of light.

Prime lenses usually have larger apertures. If you do look at zooms look for the aperture number for different focal lengths. Most zoom lenses will have a larger aperture at 55 mm and a smaller aperture at 200 mm. Remember, the smaller the F Stop number the larger the aperture. My macro is a prime lens with a large aperture because you need lots of light and speed working close to an object. Of course I use a light box to photograph jewelry.

Just picked me up the Rebel XSI

I brought in my lenses and the guy let me try out the camera with them on to ensure that they would work properly. And while there is no image stabilizer in them, the output is pretty damn nice. I'll save up for the nicer lenses (they had some nice L series ones hehe).

I picked up the camera, an extra battery and an SDHC card. The guy threw in another SDHC card for free. yay me.

Now time to learn how to use it properly. hehe

        Thanks for the advice all.

And I don't mean to gloat with this post, I just rarely have the opportunity to get something nice for myself, that I'm happy

Now we have had a lot of flooding in this area and there are still a lot of houses that have not been repaired. Must be the apocalypse.
