This is nothing new. It doesn't matter the technology or medium there are jerks everywhere. I love how he justifies his actions by saying people should get over it or how he's doing a service to people. Oh yeah he was abused sexually as a child so it's ok for him to be a dick.

Another thought occurred to me. These people are base cowards. They attack people who are in weak/emotionally troubled time in they're lives from the safety/anonymity of the internet. Reminds me of this Conan Quote.

Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.

I read it, and it never did go into just how much of a loser the main guys were. Except the one who became a nomad and told his mother to drop dead in a letter. That's pretty loser-ish.

All I see are self-imported people with weak sense of belonging.
Their entire lives revolve around some marriage of acting out and acceptance of their online communities. These people are small- smaller than a great many of the people in our technology community.

Every time I hear someone tell others how much money they make in a numeric factor, I simply divide that number by 2 and subtract taxes and shrug.

To seek people out in such a way, with the intent to cause harm and distress, is pretty much no different than our pals on Bin Laden's team.

These people will never stand in harms way for their beliefs. They're no different than the pop-off in a crowd that shouts something vulgar- rather than pushing their way to the front to say the insult to their intended persons' face, and "man-ing up" for the cause.
