    To those who knew him

In a flight sim I play in we talk alot with numerous people throughout the globe using team speak. I've had the pleasure of speaking and flying against =353=Monroe who is now flying in the clouds.

Monroe Williams was a true P51/P47 pilot in WWII and It was a honor flying against him in IL2 1946 flight sim when he flew for the 353rd squadron.

Amarillo.com | Obituaries: Retired Lt. Col. Monroe Williams 08/13/08

I have met many WW2 flyboys and they are truly remarkable people. My wife's grandfather flew B24s out of Italy and it's always a pleasure to talk with him. The world is an emptier place now that your friend is gone.

This is really kind of a sad trend. Many of those reading these forums are going to live long enough to see the last WW2 and Korean War vets die.

That is such a shame. That generation has so much to give to our younger generation and so many youth are going to miss out.

            May he rest in peace!

They truly are the greatest generation. I'm studying to be a history teacher so that people never forget how great they were.

I have had numerous flights against him.......but they fly quite high.....10000+ meters or 33000ft high.....I get nose bleeds going that high

He is a great hero and will be truly missed by his family and the IL2 gaming cummunity.

My father who served with the South Alberta Regiment (SAR4) during WWII is still alive 88 yrs young. He drove the Sherman tank in Belgium, Holland, France and Germany.

It's sad there is not many WWII veterans left

Here's a pic of my Dad

                Cheers!

I know you are proud Sgt Rock. There are organizations that help to record the memories of vets so their experiences are not lost to later generations. If you haven't gotten him to record his memories and experiences it is not to late.

Having tried many cases I've given up on expensive ones. Not convinced they are significantly better than an inexpensive gel case for 1/10 the money....
